Days 8, 9, & 10: The Master Cleanse

Hello, hello!!!

Okay, thank goodness I’ve been crazy busy at work and not preoccupied with food.  Here is a quick summary of the last days.  As I mentioned, I’ve done this cleanse several times before.  Each times proves to be a little different in terms of detox symptoms, but the results are always gratifying.  Usually, my mouth and gums hurt.  This is caused by mucus and sinus issues that result from cleaning out; however this time, I didn’t experience that.

What I can say is that if you’re not sure The Master Cleanse is for you, but you’re interested in it, I would say to try it!  But here’s what I would recommend…I would actually recommend you doing a 3-Day Master Cleanse. What I have found consistent with every single cleanse is that by Day 3, my taste buds have been reset and I’m craving healthy raw foods.

The 10-Day cleanse is not very practical when you’re working and can be harder than it really is.  But don’t let work deter you from trying the cleanse, just commit to a 3-Day cleanse.  First look at your month ahead and pick a weekend where you will not schedule any social outing or activity.  Sort of view it as a retreat, a rejuvenating one.  Do yourself a favor and do not schedule it when you are premenstrual or on your period.  Then view the cleanse as a process.

Friday:  If you are a meat-eater, try eating vegan this day before the cleanse.  Eat a hearty salad for dinner.

Saturday:  Day One

Sunday:  Day Two

Monday:  Day Three  (at this point, even if you are working outside the home, you’ll feel cleaner and less tempted and also, this is your last official day)

Tuesday:  Do lemon drink breakfast, fresh fruit for lunch and dinner, chewed well.

Wednesday:  Fresh fruit breakfast, small salad lunch, cooked veggies, if you eat cooked, for dinner.

You will be feeling amazing at this point!  So as you can see, the cleanse is really a process and you continue eating to cleanse your system for longer than the 3-Day Master Cleanse; however, this way is more easily incorporated in our busy lives.

Good luck if you try it and Happy Cleansing!

Day 7: The Master Cleanse

Here’s something interesting:  I’ve read that it’s not supportive or wise to prepare food for others while on this cleanse, at least up til Day 7.  Well, for me, I’ve been making food for my partner, Toast (I know, her name IS a food!) since Day 1.

For me, preparing the food is as close as I can get to eating it!  Mmmmmmm!  So far, I’ve made crudite lunch plates of fresh mushrooms, celery, red peppers, and greek olives with eggplant hummus….large leafy salads with pesto and sun dried tomatoes….and today freshly made guacamole with celery sticks and lettuce cups!  It’s like I get to live vicariously through her and watch her face when she sinks into her first bite!

I’m crazy…I know, but I told you that.  But remember how I told you all that your senses heighten tremendously on this cleanse?  I’m not kidding!

I guess that’s why preparing food for my partner works!  It IS practically like I get to eat it: the hint of lime and red onion, the gorgeous palette of hearty and variant shades of green from the chunks of soft avocado and crispy, refreshing celery sticks, the moments of bright red tomatoes glittering the green and the feel of the coarse sea salt that I scatter and bless the guacamole with…YUMMMEEE

Day 6: The Master Cleanse

THE EFFECTS:

-MUCH better eyesight!  In fact, this morning, I was walking around without my glasses because I forgot to put them on!  I’ve read that imperfect eyesight is largely due to various forms of stress.  Perhaps the cleanse helps the body/mind/spirit become less stressed.  The body is not dealing with the onslaught of cooked foods, too few enzymes, etc.

-SUPER clear, soft skin!  Not just on your face, but on your arms, legs, everywhere!

-HEIGHTENED SENSE OF SMELL!  It’s like going from seeing black and white to full color…high def!  You can smell in full detail.

-MENTAL CLARITY!  No more foggy brain!

-CALM...There’s definitely a sense of calm, groundedness that happens.  Things that normally would get me irritated or upset, still do, but very mildly.  I think the cleanse actually raises your irritation threshold.

-LESS DESIRE FOR EXTERNAL STIMULI like TV, music, internet, etc.

-IN THE MOMENT!  You feel much more present at every given moment.

Basically, when you’re on this cleanse, you are not numbed by foods you normally eat and as your diet clears, your digestion clears, then everything else follows.  Because of this clarity and focus, you also feel more physically and emotionally.  It’s like the body and mind become quiet and because of this, you feel more connected on all levels, including spiritually.  I love this effect the most and The Master Cleanse has never failed me in this regard.

-And one last note:  Take heart:  the SWF becomes less horrendous the longer you are on the cleanse.

Day 5: The Master Cleanse

UUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!  That’s how I felt today.  I woke up with puffy eyes, a headache, and a snuffy nose.  That’s detox for ya!  Whoo hoo!!!

So although normally, I stall doing the salt water flush, this morning, I practically ran to my special SWF glass!  I seriously could not wait because again, that’s one method of getting the toxins transported out…and with that, a myriad of goodbyes: Adios puffiness! Au revoir headache!  Sayonara snuffy nose!

And I have to say that after an hour and half, I felt much better.

….okay, goodnight.
